Holy Family has started its 2012 - 13 in conference season with two games with the same ending but to two vastly different starts of the games.
Last week Holy Family opened up the regular season at home with a slow start as St. Patrick slowed the pace down. There must have been a lid on the Holy Family basket since HF did not make a shot and trailed after the first quarter 4 - 0. HF loosened up in the second quarter and shots started to fall and the defense got even better and HF took a 19 - 4 lead into the half time break.
The second half was more of the same as the HF team was able to loosen the defense with a few three point shots which opened up the post players for some easy offensive rebounding and put backs. Holy Family played many of its reserves in the final stanza and wound up running away with the win with a final score of 38 - 12.
The second game was of the regular season was an away game against St. Valentines. Holy Family came out fast and furious sparked by suffocating defense. They took an early 13 - 2 lead after the first quarter and it never got closer as HF defeated St. Vals 36 - 11. The team played well in most phases of the game and the coaching staff continues to like how the teams continues to share the basketball and looks for each other for easier shots.
